International Photography Platform for Young People
Children of Vision supports creative self-expression and empowers children and teenagers to show their unique vision of the world through photography.
About Children of Vision
Children of Vision builds a photomosaic of multiple perspectives using images by children and teenagers from around the world. It focuses on empowering young people to show their unique vision through photography, engaging with them through Instagram, exhibitions, talks and workshops.
History of the Project
This project began in 2003, inspired by my experience of volunteering for children with impaired vision from the Kiev Special School of Art. These children blew me away with their creativity, resilience, and can-do attitude, and later became the focus of my photography series Children of Vision.
Observing how creativity can be used in extraordinary ways to overcome challenges inspired this international photography platform for young people.
Children of Vision on Instagram
Young people under 20 are encouraged to submit their images through Instagram, using #CoVtogether. These photographs are then part of the Children of Vision archive, to be featured on the Instagram grid and in future exhibitions and exciting projects!
Children of Vision has become a supportive community for young people from all over the world to connect with each other and share their work.
The project currently has over 7,000 submissions by young photographers aged 5-19 years old, from 47 countries.
Exhibitions
Through the project, children and teenagers’ photography has been featured as part of the Children of Vision exhibition at:
The ІV Educational Festival Arsenal of Ideas
The National Art and Culture Museum Complex
Kiev, Ukraine, September 2018
Diffusion International Photography Festival
Ffotogallary, Cardiff, April 2019.
Guest Features
Special guests from the world of art and culture, including photography critics, festival, gallery and museum directors, regularly contribute to the project by choosing images that speak to them personally and writing a short commentary to express their appreciation and support for the young photographer.
Supporting the Project
Children of Vision is currently run on a voluntary basis, and wouldn’t be possible without the support of its patrons.
